A Brief History of Fast Food Restaurants
Eating out is an ancient practice. In Egypt around
512 B.C., a restaurant offered a single dish of wild fowl,
cereal, and onions. Of course, restaurants have changed since
2,500 years ago! Today, there are over 500,000 fast food
restaurants in the world.
These restaurants are fast,
fun, inexpensive, and can be found almost everywhere, even in
some school cafeterias. Americans eat out an average of four
times per week, often at fast food restaurants. In fact, kids
aged 6 to 14 eat in fast food restaurants 157,000,000
(thats 157 million) times a month!
