The war for independence with England went on and on. George Washington,commander of the Continental Army, did not have many solders. In 1781 English attacked Virginia. Jefferson had to run for his life. Americans and the English Fought hard. The English fought their way to Yorktown. The English were trapped so they lost. This was the last big battle of the Revolutionary War. The two sides signed a treaty.
The war was over and now it was time to set up a new government.
