The Jefferson Memorial
Like the Lincoln memorial Jefferson's memorial was built in 1914. The statue of him faces toward the Tidal Basin and a plaza near by.
The statue holds a scroll in his left hand. The sculpture Rudolph Evans actually molded the bronze together to make the statue. The memorial was dedicated on the 200th anniversary of Jefferson's birth. The memorial reminds me of democracy because it's dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the writer of the Declaration of Independence.
