Ladybug

The ladybug was assigned the official Tennessee insect in 1975. Tennesee's smallest state symbol, the ladybug is around four-tenths of an inch long, colored brightly, round, and has about four black spots on each wing. Ladybugs are very useful in Tennessee agriculture for controlling crop pests.

Firefly

Another Tennessee insect is the firefly. It was selected as a state insect in 1975. Fireflies are rather small and blackish brown, yellow, or reddish in color. Fireflies also produce an extraordinary light that can be white, yellow, orange, greenish-blue, or red.
