The Passionflower

Tennessee school children voted for the state flower which was then adopted by the state legislature. The passionflower, also called the maypop, is a showy purple and white flower with a two-inch green fruit. When stomped upon, the green fruit makes a popping sound.

 Iris

The iris comes in so many colors that its name was taken from the Greek goddess of the rainbow. The iris is one of the most popular flowers in the state of Tennessee. So Tennessee selected it to be the second state flower.
