In 1995, high school biology students selected the Zebra Swallowtail as the state butterfly for Tennessee. The Zebra Swallowtail has black and white stripes that run the length of its body with red and blue spots on its lower back. This beautiful butterfly is plentiful in the South and lays its eggs on the pawpaw (a tree of the southeast United States). |
