BACKGAMMON-
An ancient game played in Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The game is played on
a board which is divided in half by a center bar. On the two sides there
are 24 illustrated spikes with alternate colors, and both players have 15
pieces to move. These spikes are used to move your pieces onto, like a square
to move on in Monopoly. On the spike can fit as many pieces as possible.
Skill is necessary because you need to know which pieces to move. Two opponents
can play moving their pieces in different directions. The object of the
game is to move your men off the board by the roll of the dice.
CHECKERS-
Checkers is a game of skill, and was also played in the ancient period of
time. It's played on a checkered board identical to the board used in chess.
You set your pieces up on the same color and the farthest to one side of
the board as possible. You move your pieces to try and annihilate the opponent's
pieces, by making better moves than your opponent. The army which destroys
the other one first wins.
CHESS-
Chess is a very complicated game played on a checkered board created in
the medieval age. At the beginning you set your pieces up in a particular
order. These pieces vary in power, and can make different moves. Every piece
has an identical twin except those of the king and queen. The different
teams are represented by different colors, usually as white and black. The
object of the game is to capture the king in checkmate.
CLUE- Clue is a mystery board game where you use
logical thinking to find the murderer, what weapon used, and where the murder
occurred. You move your piece throughout the house asking your opponent
yes or no questions.
LIFE- The Game of Life is what it is. You must move
your car through a board of obstacles that you might face in real life.
You also pick your house, your occupation, and you need to insure it all
of course! At the end of the game you can choose whether to go to a country
side estate or a mansion place. Everyone wins!
MONOPOLY-
This game is played with two or more players on a board with different squares
mostly representing real estate or insurance. If you land on a real estate
square you can either buy the real estate or pass it. If you buy it, than
if the opponent lands on it you can charge them various amounts of money
depending on the original value of the square. It's also the same if you
land on a square s/he owns, but of course s/he'd charge you. You need to
know where to put houses, hotels (which are placed on the real estate to
increase the fee if landed on), and if to buy the square or leave it for
grabs. You move your piece by rolling the dice. The object of the game is
to make the opponent bankrupt.
RISK-
Risk is a long, but addicting game of world domination, played on a board
of continents. In order to conquer you must manuever your pieces and roll
the dice. If you obtain certain continents you get more infantry each turn,
depending on which continent you conquered. The object of the game is to
conquer the armies and own every territory.
SCRABBLE-
Scrabble had its first appearance in the 1930's and is played on a board
divided into several tiny squares. The object of the game is to gain the
most points before the supply of letters is gone. The letters you choose
have varying amounts of value. You use these letters to make words (that
can be found in a dictionary) to place on the board. Each word played must
have a letter which connects to a letter from another word.
SORRY- This game is played on a flat board with
home and bases placed on it, with moving squares around the edges. The object
of the game is to get your men into your home before the opponent can. The
game is played with cards and pieces. The majority of the cards have a special
feature, such as; a two cards lets you get out of your base and draw again
and the four card let's you move your piece move backwards . The majority
of the cards propel you toward home. The cards can drastically change the
game making it fun to play.
