We think teamwork is one way voyagers now and then are similar,
but we want to hear from you. Tell us why you feel the voyagers
of yesterday and today are similar.
Teamwork
The Star of India and the Challenger are alike because they both
involve teamwork. On the Star of India we had to use teamwork to pull ropes and lift
heavy cargo. We also used teamwork to clean up after we made a mess. We had to use
teamwork to get things done, because we couldnt do things by ourselves. We
needed each other to perform many tasks. The Star of India and the Challenger are
also alike because they both involved technology. They both used stars to navigate their
way. Technology on the Star of India included compasses, a rudder, and a lateen sail.
Examples of Challenger technology were computers, robots, chemicals, and other machines.
The Star of India and Challenger are also alike in other ways. For example,
when you go out in space or when you go out to sea, you are all alone. Many times no one
can rescue you if you are either in space or out on the ocean alone. Also there are
disasters when you go on an adventure. For example, you could run out of air or get
scurvy. Astronauts and Sailors probably had many of the same feelings when they were on a
voyage or mission. They probably felt lonely and missed their families. Astronauts and
sailors also were similar because they liked adventure and wanted to go where few people
had gone before.
