Around 9:40 on January 28th of 1986 the Challenger Spacecraft blew up 73 seconds after liftoff, at an altitude of 46,000 feet. It carried 7 crew members including the first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe. All 7 members were killed during the explosion. Because of this sudden explosion, NASA postponed other shuttle missions until September 29th of 1988.

We visited a Challenger simulator where we experienced what it might be like aboard the real Challenger. When we were on the classroom Challenger, we had a serious emergency, but we all worked together to avoid catastrophe. Our mission was to build a Probe to explore Haley’s comet.  Our whole class worked as a team to accomplish this task.
