The Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party

dividing line
Dec. 16, 1773

When the Stamp Act was *repealed in 1770, a small tax on tea remained. The colonists were very frustrated with the situation so they refused to buy the tea. Finally, a group of citizens disguised themselves as Indians and angrily dumped large amounts of tea off of British Ships right into the water !
This was a turning point, often seen as the start of the war. The colonists had begun to fight back!!!

*Repeal means to take back.
