HOW TO BOWL
The bowler starts about 12 feet from the foul line. The line separates end of lane from the lane itself. The bowler must roll the ball without crossing the foul line.
In the game of bowling a bowler bowls 10 frames 2 on each frame, unless you get a strike. A strike is all the pin are hit down in one turn on the score sheet it should put a ( X ) in the small square in the corner of the larger square on the score sheet. A spare counts as 10 points, a spare is where you hit some pins then in the next roll you hit down the rest of the pins. Then on the score sheet it will show a ( / ). When the bowler does not get a strike or a spare, the pin that he hit down will count for points. If the bowler fails to hits any of the pins in each of the 2 turns the score would say the word ''open'' or ( -- ).
At the last roll if you get a strike or a spare you'd get one more time to roll the ball.
To get a perfect score you must get 12 consecutive strikes a score is 300, to get this you must get a strike each frame, plus two strike for extra.
The bowler puts his thumb his middle finger and his ring finger into the ball, the person holds the ball slightly up to his waist. A right hand bowler takes 4 steps forward on the right foot pushes the ball forward and down. If the bowler is left foot the bowler swing the ball back to the rear, and the left arm moves forward for his balance. In the 5 step the bowler starts on the left foot and takes 2 steps while swing the ball.
In bowling you should roll a straight ball if you are a beginner, because it the easiest to roll. If you should be able to roll a hook or a curve. the hook ball rolls down side of the lane, then turns sharply towards the pins. The curve ball follows a winder arc than the hook. The bowler aims for the pocket or space, between the 1and the 3 pin or the 1 and pin.
The pins are made of maple with a plastic coating, the pin is 15 inches high 5 1/4 at the neck, the pins way 3 pounds. The ball is made of hard rubber. Plastic balls can be used also, the balls in the leagues cannot be re then 27 inches and must weigh from 6 to 16 pounds younger bowlers may use lighter
