EL NINO is quite a new topic for the world, but most people are sick of it because every single night - for those who watch the six o'clock news like me - it is always talked about. It is mentioned all over the world but I had no clue what an El Nino was, so for all those people who are sick of El Nino, this might give you something to think about.

El Nino is a disruption in the ocean's atmosphere, located in the Pacific ocean. During El Nino, easterly trade winds reverse, this causes a slight change of temperature on the sea surface, so instead of the warm water flowing westward it flows to the east. California is getting the most of El nino because it is right next to the Pacific Ocean.

El Nino comes every three to seven years and is named El Nino because it is Spanish for "the child" and comes around Christmas time. El Nino was first recorded in the 1500's and has come again with some of its worst weather in 1997 (Another severe occurrence of El Nino was in 1982 to 1983, the worst of the 20th century). But now every flood and every hurricane is blamed on El Nino, even though it might be the typical weather for the area.
