The Ambassador Bridge - the U.S. bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor.

The Detroit Zoo, Belle Isle Zoo and the Belle Isle Aquarium, and the Nature Center

Children's Museum and Planetarium - displays of stuffed and live animals, musical instrument, puppets, old-fashioned toys and ethnic crafts. Saturdays at 10a.m.and 2p.m. are great workshops exploring the arts, for $1, by Detroit Public School teachers. 87 East Kirby, Detroit, just north of the Detroit Institute of Arts. 313-494-1210.

State Fair Grounds - The Michigan State Fair is held the last weekend in August through the first weekend in September.

Four Bears Water Park - Auburn Road between Ryan and Dequindre, Utica. Water slides, paddleboats, go-carts, kiddie rides, miniature golf, petting zoo and more. 810-739-5863.

Belle Isle Water Slides - Bell Isle Park, Detroit. Three water slides on the north side of the island besides the beach. 313-267-7115.

Lake Erie Metropark Wave Pool - along Lake Erie on West Jefferson in Brownstown Twp.. 313-379-5020.

Red Oaks Water Park - Red Oaks has the largest wave action pool in Michigan plus a three-flume water slide. 1455 E. Thirteen Mile Rd., between John R and Dequindre. 810-585-6990.

Waterford Oaks Water Park - over 30 activities including waterslides, wave pool and a creative wet playground. Waterford Oaks County Park on Scott Lake Road between Pontiac lake Road and Dixie Highway, Pontiac. 810-858-0918.
