An earthquake is a natural disaster that happens when two of
the worlds plates rub together. The plates either slide
past or go over and under each other. This may cause serious
or minor destruction. During an earthquake the ground will
shake violently for a long or short period of time. They also
can cause tsunamis, land slides, and fires.
