Our Experiment With Tops

Our Experiment With Tops

We did an experiment with a top to test its motion with weights. First we tested the top regular without weights three times. We spun it and observed its speed and measured the time it was spinning. Next, we put some weights on the top part of the top. We spun it and observed its speed and measured the time it was spinning. Last, we put the same amount of weights on the bottom part of the top. We spun it and observed its speed and measured the time it was spinning.

We are going to show you a table that is the data chart of what we observed;

  Trial 1 Trail 2 Trial 3 Average
No Weights 35 seconds 15 seconds 15 seconds 21.7 seconds
Weight on Top 5 seconds 5 seconds 5 seconds 5 seconds
Weight on Bottom 22 seconds 33 seconds 25 seconds 26.6 seconds

Conclusion: A top will spin the very fastest when the weights are on the bottom. We figured the longer the top spun the faster it went. The top spins slowest when the weight is on the top. The top was the wobbliest when the weight was on the top of the top.
