4-H Pledge |
WHAT IS 4-H?
4-H is the largest youth program in the world!!! All 50 states and more than 80 countries are involved in 4-H. People of all ages participate in 4-H programs, from pre-schoolers to grandparents. The list of 4-H projects is almost endless. Every 4-H member and their family are sure to be able to find something of interest. Country kids are not the only ones who can join. It is true it had its beginnings in rural America, but now young people and volunteers from major urban communities may participate too.
4-H IS FOR EVERYONE!
4-H Projects offer the opportunity for boys and girls to participate in everything from Cake Decorating to Tractor Repair. Because of this more well-rounded young people are developed through the 4-H Program. All family members are able to participate. Some will be members while others help out as group leaders, project leaders, and meeting helpers. This way everyone in the family gets to participate and learn more about each other.
WHY DO YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE 4-H?
Because they have FUN! They make new friends and learn interesting things. They have the opportunity to take trips, go camping, and best of all go to fairs. Kids get to choose projects that interest them. They can learn to do things like take care of animals and plants, learn how to take pictures, fix their bikes, practice cooking, collect anything from rocks to bugs, and best of all, they can even learn how to use a COMPUTER.
HOW DO YOU JOIN?
Call you County Extension Office or a local 4-H leader (If you know one). If you don't, I have provided a link below that will take you to the "FOURH WEB" site and you will be able to locate an Extension Office in your state. Armed with their phone number, you will be on your way to one of the best journeys of youth. Good Luck!
MY 4-H EXPERIENCE
I have been in 4-H for two years now. We call our club the WESTRAN RAMBLERS. Of course the project group I like best is HORSEMANSHIP. We do a lot of different things in our group. Not only do we learn to ride, but we learn about how to take care of our horses from the inside out. What I mean is, there is a lot more to riding horses than just getting on them and riding away. If you click on the "Jacquelyn's 4-H Experience" button below you will see what I mean.
