This story happened long ago in one of the tribes in Karelia. The main character of this book is a little boy - Lyok by name. He was the 7th boy in the family and according to the custom of the tribe he was just the proper person to become a magician and to predict the result of the hunting. And his mother was then to be the head of the female magician's group. But the old woman, who was the principal magician at that time didn't want Lyok's mother to occupy her place and she decided to prevent her from it as much as she could. To some point she managed it. If you want to know how hard it was for the boy to fight for his rights you should find this book in the library and read it.
