Sign of the Beaver
By Elizabeth George Speare
Summary

The book I read over the summer was called Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth George Sphere. The reason it is called that is because an Indian tribe in the book is called People of the Beaver. I could not find a copyright date because the page with it was torn out.

The book was about a thirteen year old boy, Matt, who was supposed to watch the house he and his father made. His father went back to get the rest of the family as planned after the house was built. The only difficulty was he had a slight problem with bees. He met two Indians that helped him bet better until all of the stings healed. After that, they helped each other out in many different ways; until the Beaver tribe moved away.

One of the strong points is that the book was so realistic. It is as if you can go back in time and watch it live around you. One of the things I did not like about the book was that it ended too quickly. It never tells one hour after Mattís father get back. Another thing I liked about this book, is, it was very well written. Normally when I read a book from the same time period as this one I cant even read one chapter because it is so dull. A lot of the time the book can become unrealistic. Even though on a scale of one to five, I would give this book a three and one half.
