Where the Red Fern Grows

By Wilson Rawls

Evaluation

I read the book Where The Red Fern Grows written by Wilson Rawls. I liked this book a lot because it was almost always telling about either an exciting hunt or a story that was very interesting, or anything else like that. The main problem was getting the hunting dogs for Billy because his parents were very poor. He finally found an ad for some dogs just like the ones he wanted that were for sale for fifty dollars. So after two years of selling small things to the fishermen, Billy had exactly fifty dollars. Then Billy got his grandfather to order the dogs which were to arrive in the next town over. Once Billy had the dogs he went to a hunting tournament of the best Raccoon hunters of that time, and Billy won. After that though, both dogs died after a fight with a cougar.
