The name of my report was The Captive. The author is Joyce Hansen. The book was published in 1994. It is a Historical Fiction.
Kofi was an African boy who was his fathers favorite son. Slave traders captures him and in the story he is a master to a very religious but brutal master. They escaped and went to trial. Kofi was illegally captured and the judge set him free with his buddy, Joseph. One of Kofiís friends who was a white servant and was not harmed and was sent back to his master. Finally a black man who hated slavery adopted Kofi and Joseph and the man lived happily ever after.
Something I learned is that slaves could be set free and could buy their freedom. Another fact I learned is that black free people could have a black village. The last thing I learned is that some people can be very nice to slaves.
I liked Joyce's ending. She had a black man taking care of Kofi and Joseph. I liked the description of the mornings. They were nicely described.
I didn't like the beginning because it had a tedious description of the life in an African village.
