If you like Michael Crichton read The Andromeda Strain. It is a book about an amazing disease that comes from space in an American satellite made to pick up bacteria in space. The satellite lands in a small town in Arizona called Piedmont. The disease has serious affects on anything it touches. The book has a lot of military man in it, You find out about secret disease laboratories all around America. It is scary at times when you find out about the disease. The plot of the story is that when scientists are looking where the satellite landed they find out that it lands in Piedmont, Arizona.
When the scientists arrive at the town they find out that everyone in the town is dead! Then the scientists mysteriously die. When they send another group to inspect the town they also find everyone dead. Could it be aliens? Could it be the disease? No one knows.
The characters in the book are well explained. There is a baby whose name was not mentioned who was a huge part of the story. An old man named Jackson who is also an important part of the book. Burton and Stone are two scientists that are studying the disease.
In my opinion this was one of Michael Crichton's books that weren't that great compared to Jurassic Park or The Lost World, but if you liked the movie Outbreak or The Stand you will love this book.
