You will live for a thousand years, because your health is perfect. There are no dangers in Diaspar and human beings have been engineered to live for 1,000 years. At the end of 1,000 years, you will walk into the Hall of Creation, be dematerialized and stored in the Central Computer and then reborn a thousand years in the future.
Arthur C. Clarke is a great science fiction scientist and novelist. In 1945, he invented the idea of the communications satellite in outer space. He also wrote some very famous novels called 2001, 2010, 2067 and 3001. The book, The City and the Stars, is an excellent novel because it is a realistic tale of the universe with an essence that makes you want to read on. Itıs one of those books that makes you chuckle to yourself at the very end once you figure out all the conspiracies.
