Do you like mysteries, talking on the phone, or prank calls? If you do, then you should read the book Wolf Rider by Avi. This book is about a 15 year old boy named Andy Zadinski who gets a phone call from some maniac who calls himself Zeke. Andy's mother died a few years back so he lives with his dad in an apartment in Madison County. His dad, Mr. Zadinski is a teacher at the Madison County College.
Andy and his best friend Patrick came home from school one day. They went home to Andy's apartment. When the boys walked inside the phone started to ring. Andy picked up the phone. The caller said that his name was Zeke and he said, "I just killed someone. I killed Nina Klemmer." (pg. 1). At first Andy was scared, then he thought it had to be a prank call. Andy told Patrick to go to the Police Station and ask the police to trace the call. The police thought it was some kind of joke and didn't do anything about it. Andy stayed on the phone and tried to get all the facts he could get about the caller.
The next day he went to look in a school roster book for the Madison County College for the name Nina Klemmer. He found out that she went to the Madison County College. Andy finds her at the college and tells her that her life is in danger. Nina thinks he is threatening her so she tells the police to make him stay away from her. Since nobody believes Andy, not even Patrick, Andy has to find out who made the call with all the facts he has by himself. That's where the good part begins!
