A Day No Pigs Would Die is about a boy, Robert and his dad, Heaven. Robert Peck is a boy born and raised on a farm. Every day for him is very tough because of his chores and duties. His dad Heaven Peck slaughters pigs for a living which Rob hates.

Robert was walking home from school one day when he saw a cow in trouble. He could see the cow was in much pain. He went over to the cow and saw that she was giving birth. He saw a leg of the calf, he took off his pants and tied one leg of the pants to the calf and one leg to a tree. Then he pushed the cow over and the calf fell out. He saw the cow was severely coughing and he knew she was choking on something, so he stuck his hand inside the cows throat and pulled out a goiter. The next morning one of his friendly neighbors gave him a pig for what he had did.

He and the pig go on many adventures and trips. With Robert having the pig he even has more responsibility. Mr. Tanner invited Robert to the Rutland Fair. That was a big animal show. When he is at the fair with his pig Pinky, they win first prize for best pig. Mr. Tanner won four first place prizes.

One day when Mr. Tanner comes over he asked if his pig and Pinky can have babies. A week after Pinky hadn't gave birth yet and then the find out that she's couldn't have babies and then Rob and his dad look at each other and they both know what to do.....
