How would you feel if you had a chance of never seeing your parents again? What if you were in danger of dying just because you were a Jew? What if your friends and families' life depended on if you could handle a dangerous mission all by yourself?

This story is about Annemarie, Ellen and their families during World War II. They are best friends but there is one problem, Ellen Rosen is Jewish. They hear from the church that the Nazišs are going to invade their town that night collecting all the Jews.

Ellen's parents flee to safety while Ellen stays at Annemarie's house with Annemarie's mother, father and sister, Kristi. In the middle of the night, the Nazi's come knocking on Annemarie's door, wondering where the Rosens are. The Nazi's search their apartment to see if they are hiding any Jews. Annemarie had an older sister, Lise, who had died a few years earlier so luckily they had pictures. When the Nazis didn't believe that Ellen was Annemariešs sister they showed the Nazis the pictures of Lise saying it was Ellen. It worked and the Nazis left.

Lise's fiancee, Peter, was in the Resistance who are people who help Jewish people escape their home. He helped them escape to a house near the ocean which belonged to her uncle, where they met up with a few other people Peter was helping. Read this book to find out if they make it safely across the border or if they get killed by the Nazis.

I thought this book was great! It was a page turner and unpredictable. It is VERY easy reading but it's a fun book.
