It was supposed to be a normal satellite landing. But it brought back something also............. now everyone in the town of Piedmont is dead!

The government constructed a operation called code name Wildfire. The operation cost millions, on something they hoped they would never have to use. The operation is supposed to research any object coming back to earth from space. The research center is in Nevada somewhere and has a nuclear self-destruct.

"It was all over in three seconds." (p. 166) but two people have survived. One an infant and a sixty year old man. They have nothing in common but they survived in some way. And now a fighter jet flying over Piedmont crashes , but what happened shouldnąt have happened łThe pilot had said: 'Something is wrong.' And then, a moment later, 'My rubber air hose is dissolving. It must be the vibration. It's just disintegrating to dust.' "(p.188)

Michael Crichton is a great writer who puts allot of suspense in his writing. He leaves his reader not wanting to stop, having great cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. This is a great book and I suggest this book to anyone who loves a good novel.
