What if you were offered a million dollars on one condition? That condition was the risk of having your wife and son die? What would you do?

Everyone has their flaws. It is just the way of human nature. A great weakness which everyone shares is the greed for money. Most people get caught up in the selfish illusion that money will solve all of your problems. This is not exactly true. Many people already know this information, but not everyone.

Kino was a poor pearl diver who lived in a poor part of Mexico. He lived a happy life among his neighbors and with his wife and infant son. One drastic day Kino's son was stung by a scorpion. This sting could kill him. That day Kino went pearl diving. To Kino's great amazement he found a pearl as large as a seagulls egg, as "perfect as the moon." Kino thought that he was very fortunate and lucky.

The word of the great pearl spread through the town like wildfire. Everyone wanted the pearl. Will the pearl bring good and happiness to Kino's life? Or will it bring evil and anguish to the life which Kino is destined for?

I thought that The Pearl was an okay book. It really had a strong point to it and I understood that. Personally, I prefer book which have a little happiness to it. I think that this book was too short for itıs story. There was a weak character description and there was not enough detail. If you are looking for a depressing, quick book, then this is the perfect one for you.
