How would you feel if you didn't have a very strong relationship with your older brother or if two of your best friends both died in one night? The main character has to deal with these fates so read this book and get into S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders.

The main character in this book is a 14 year old male named Ponyboy. He has lived with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop, ever since his parents passed away. He and his brothers belong to a gang called the Greasers, who are from the wrong side of the railroad tracks. They all have long and "tuff" hair; their trademark is the amounts of oil that they put in their hair. Their rival gang, the Socs, have everything: great girls, great cars and most of all, they have MONEY!

Ponyboy has a strong tough look on the outside but, inside he is different than the others in the gang. On the inside he is a sensitive person who loves to read and write, he loves to watch the stars and watch the sunsets. If you really got to know him you would find that he is a real dreamer. Does he leave the gang? Does he ever gain a good and strong relationship with Darry? Read this great book and find out.

The book that I read for this book review is classified as one of the best books that I have read in a while. It is filled with drama and excitement; by excitement I mean that it was filled with action. I think that the author, S.E. Hinton, is very talented and will keep writing books like this one. It is a work of contemporary fiction that I will remember for a long time.
