Would you be willing to kidnap your
English teacher because you don't like him?
Well, in Killling Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan five teenagers
have an English teacher that is majorly strict. So they decide to kidnap
him and make him beg for mercy. How did the book get the name Killling
Mr. Griffin you ask? Simple: a practical joke turns into first degree
murder when the joke gets twisted.
Mark, a cunning and wicked kid; Dave, the class president; Betsy a renegade "chick"; Jeff the best player on his basketball team; and Susan,
a smart girl that is easily persuaded all get caught up in a joke that was
all but funny. The plan was to scare Mr. Griffin by taking him up to the
mountains and telling him they would kill him. They were supposed to be
lying about killing him.
Mr. Griffin refuses to beg the teenagers leave him there in the mountains
until twelve o'clock. Unknown to the teenagers, Mr. Griffin has a heart
condition that can only be treated by pills that the teenagers destroyed
because they said they were made of nitrogen. (They thought that if they
threw them at a large rock they would explode.) Did I mention not all these
kids were geniuses? Thus starts "The Messed-Up Murder".
This book is exciting and true to life! If you like mystery books you'll
love Killling Mr. Griffin. This story mixes investigative
know-how and good old fashion instinct. Lois Duncan brings this story to
you and brings you in. I recommend this book for people age nine to infinity.
Also, make sure to look for clues when reading!
