How would you like to be on an island with nine other people knowing that one of the people was a murderer? How would you feel if you knew that there was a good chance you would die?
In the book And Then There Were None by Agatha Chrisite, ten people were invited to Indian Island by a mysterious person named U.N. Owen. The people were Anthony Marston, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, General Macarthur, Emily Brent, Justice Wargrave, Dr. Armstrong, Mr. Blore, Philip Lombard, and Vera Claythorne. Each one of the people had caused the death of someone but it wasn't a murder. For example, Anthony Marston had hit two kids with his car.
When everyone is eating dinner at the dining room table the first night, Anthony Marston takes a gulp of wine and starts to choke and after a long coughing fit, chokes to death. That is when the suspense starts. None of the people at Indian Island have ever seen U.N. Owen.
That night when Mr. Rogers walks by the china Indian dolls that are set up on the window sill, there are only 9 figures. "That's a rum go," he thinks. "I could have sworn there were ten of them." (page 54)
After that, one by one the people on the island died, and every time someone died, a china figure disappeared. To add to the suspense and madness, all the deaths happen like in the nursery rhyme. Everyone quickly realizes that one of them is the murderer. Everyone still living on the island is terrified.
And Then There Were None is a great book and to find out who the murderer is you have to read it.
