Do you like coming of age stories about children going through the same problems that you are? If not, do not read on. If you do, read further and find out about a book that will leave you teary-eyed. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is about a girl growing up with a father for a drunk. Francie loves her father more than anything. When Francie's brother, Neeley, was born, her mother, Katie, already decided she liked Neeley more than Francie. Imagine the day her little brother was born! At first sight her mom decided that she preferred her son to her daughter! She made a promise to herself never to tell her daughter Francie, but all of Francie's life she grew up knowing this. Francie loves where she is raised in Brooklyn. She says, "Brooklyn. It's a magic city and it isn't real."

Francie's relationship with her father is a rare one. A lot of kids never get to experience the feeling of loving their father that much. That is part of the reason I enjoyed this book as much as I did. When something terrible happens to Francie's father, Francie feels she may never recover.

I wouldn't be writing about this book if I didn't truly love this book. This book changed the way I now feel about all literature. This book is not comparable to any other book because it would always be better. If don't read this book, oh well, that's your loss. If you do, you will be experiencing one of the greatest books of all time.
