The last time there was a homecoming queen at Westdale High, Brenda Sheldon, she was killed in a terrible car accident on her way to the homecoming dance. Westdale High has decided to bring back their old tradition and have their first Homecoming since Brenda. It seems to be perfect timing since Melissa Bradley's braces have come off, giving her a perfect smile, and giving herself a gorgeous makeover!

Melissa's best friends, the original Izzy, and the quiet Celeste, recommended that she enter for Homecoming Queen! When she goes to school she gets tons of surprising attention, including the attention from her secret crush, the amazing football star, the ever-so-popular, Seth Powell! She is amazed that she's getting so much attention from everyone, but, all the attention isn't all good.

After Melissa is entered in the contest, the two most popular girls in the grade, Laurel and Betsy, threaten her that she won't win and that she'll be sorry if she does. Then the other girls in the running for Homecoming have terrible accidents, or are they accidents? One is attacked by a swarm of bees. The other is terribly burned. They both have to withdraw from the contest. Is it Brenda Sheldon's ghost out for revenge? Is Laurel making the "accidents" happen? Is Betsy? Is Melissa next?!?!

Homecoming Queen, by John Hall, is a frightening, surprising, page turning book! It is filled with jealousy, evil intentions, and fear of lives. Read this book and it will become your most exciting best friend!
