This book is the Diary of a girl named Anne Frank during the time she was in hiding in World War II. She describes the food shortages, burglaries and arrests in such a way that you can see things happening, feel the sorrow when in her second to last entry she states that she is "finally getting optimistic", disgust when she describes the food they eat, the hunger and the happiness.
