Lynda Plettner came to Alaska in 1980. She was a race horse trainer and carpenter. Lynda is a five time Iditarod finisher and has come back to the race after being gone three years. Lynda owns and operates one of Alaska's most comprehensive sled dog kennels in the Big Lake Area. This year she hopes to have an "A Team" of energetic, focused, and well conditioned dogs and wolf dogs leading her into Nome. She is going to dedicate her 1998 prize to Joel Kottke, a 1974 Iditarod finisher, and her mentor and friend who passed away in October.
