Most people think that the musher is the hero but really it is the dogs. Once there were two dogs who were so great that people built statues of them. Their names were Balto and Togo. I'm sure that you've heard of Balto before because he is well known. Without the dogs racing with their musher, the musher would have to push the sled. But with the dogs they will pull the musher. Think, if you were a dog you would have to run all those miles. Then when you finally get to the finish line all the people storm around the musher rather than coming over to you and saying nice things to you.
