Basketball
Basketball was founded in 1891.
By working hard, learning how to shoot, pass, and dribble ( the main functions of the game ) very well, you'll be a great player.
Ice Hockey
Ice Hockey was founded in the late 1800's, but Americans started playing it in 1893.
Being alert, being able to use common sense, being able to skate well on skates, going backwards and forwards, and being able to make sharp turns all equals a good player.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey was founded in the mid 1800's.
If you have strong legs and arms, and you are well coordinated and have good footwork, you're probably a very good field hockey player.
Football
Football was brought to America in 1871, with the name of Rugby. We renamed it football.
To be a good football player, you need to be strong and courageous, and be in good health. Although many people think you need to be big to be a good player, smaller people are just as good.
Lacrosse
Lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America! It was first started as a training game for Indians, in case of a war.
A good lacrosse player can cradle, pass, and scoop up the ball using the cross.
Soccer
Soccer was first played in an earlier version by Ancient Greeks! The English, however claimed that modern-day soccer began in their country.
Speed, aggressiveness, alertness, and being in good physical condition are the requirements for a good player.
Softball
Softball was first played in Chicago, in the year 1887.
You need to have good concentration, be able to hit the ball, catch it, run fast, and be strong and accurate to be a great softball player.

Volleyball
Volleyball was first played in 1895.
To be a good volleyball player, you need to be able to have good teamwork, strong arms and shoulders, and be able to spike balls in all the different positions You also need to be able to serve the ball.
