Predators of the Salmon World

Bears

The best place to find bears trying to catch salmon is by rivers. In order to find a bear there, there needs to be thick woods. You can also find bears by waterfalls. Bears are predators to salmon because they eat salmon. The way bears get the salmon is when the salmon jump, they snag them out of the air.

Osprey and Eagles

The best place to find birds trying to catch salmon is by cliffs near rivers. When birds see salmon they get tempted to eat the salmon. When birds want salmon they dive down and grab the salmon in their giant talons. They only catch salmon that are up close to the surface of the water.

Humans

Humans are also a predator to salmon because we humans are fishing them while the females are still pregnant, reducing the chance for baby salmon to live. Salmon are disappearing from lakes and streams onto dinner plates.

Another way for us humans to harm the salmon is polluting our streams and lakes. The chemicals in fertilizer will eventually work their way to streams which connect to lakes.

Man-made dams also harm the salmon by holding the salmon back from the rivers where they need to spawn.
