Basic Arctic Info:
The Arctic Ocean is located entirely in
the North Pole region. It is the world's smallest ocean, only covering 5,400,000
sqare miles. Little marine life exists where the surface is covered in ice
all year long; it is abundant in open areas and more southerly waters.
An underwater ridge, the LOMONOSON RIDGE, divides the Arctic Ocean into
two basins: the Nansen Basin which is between 13,000 and 15,000 feet deep,
and the Hyperborean Basin which is about 13,000 feet deep.
