1. Our annual grocery bill is over 1/4 million dollars.

Approximately how much is that a day? $684.93

 

2. Believe it or not, several species eat dog food - at the rate of 7240 pounds in 6 months! At $ 12.75 for every 25 pound bag, how much does it cost each year to "chow down"? $3692.40

 

3. Hard-boiled eggs are used at the rate of 130 a day. If eggs are $0.60 a dozen, how much egg money do we "shell out " in a year ? $2372.50

 

4. Even zoo animals need their fresh vegetables. Using the

following daily amounts and prices, what is our produce bill each day? $18,352.20

10 lbs. potatoes @$0.12 lb.

20 lbs. onions @$0.19 lb.

38 lbs. oranges @$0.24 lb.

75 lbs. carrots @ $0.90 for 5 lbs.

5. In a recent month, a variety of insectivores consumed 35,750 crickets. (Fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians also eat them). At $12 per thousand, what was the cost of the insects? $429.00

If shipping charges were added - at $1.94 per thousand, what was the total monthly cricket bill? $498.36
