The Colobus monkey is from 18 to 21 inches long. Its tail can be 20 to 35 inches long.

The Colobus weighs from 12 to 32 pounds.

Description

The Colobus monkey has a long, smooth, dense, shiny black fur all over its body. Adult mankeys have a bushy white tail.

Food

The Colobus maokey eats young leaves.

 

Habitat

Colobus monkeys live in central African rain forests. They range eastward into Kenya. They live in the canopy layer of the rain forest.

  • They have a long thumb and long fingers so they can move quickly through the trees.
  • The young are gorn with a coat of short, white hair and do not get the adult color until after 4 months.
  • Colobus monkeys were once hunted for their fur.
