The Great Hall

The largest room in the castle was the great hall. Although the great hall was the main room in the castle, it had very little furniture.

The floor of the great hall was covered with reeds. The reeds were warmer than stone and concealed some of the garbage that was dropped carelessly during meals. Sometimes a spice called rosemary was dropped on the foul smelling reeds to freshen them up.
