Children of Nobles

Children whose parents were nobles were taught the alphabet by their mothers and may have learned to read and write from a priest in the household. As a child grew older, he or she was often sent to another house. Boys who were training to become knights would serve there as pages and squires, while girls learned spinning, weaving, and embroidery.
