Carpenters and Masons

In Europe a carpenter used adzes, axes, and knives. A master carpenter in the 1200's was given 7 1/2 pence a day. A carpenter could become rich if the king or a noble person hired them. Masons were mobile craftsmen which had tight schedules (15-16 hours). It was expensive to build in stone or brick. Only rich people could build with them.
