BLACK HOLES
Returnto Phenomena of the Universe

Mysterious, intriguing, amazing, deadly... Yep you guessed it- Black Holes!  They havemore gravity than anything known to human beings.  They can even suck inlight, the fastest thing in the universe!

If a huge star collapses suddenlyenough it creates a black hole.  All of the huge star's gravity is nowcondensed into dense, heavy matter.  It is like fitting the entire earthinto the palm of your hand. Black holes are so heavy that one bucket wouldweigh more than the earth itself.
Things go into black holes butnothing, not even light could come out, making it an invisible hole inspace.
If you fell into a Black holeyou would die immediately, but if you were able to live this is what youmight recall.  You would start to plunge toward the hole at amazing speedsbecause of the gravity.  You would be stretched longer and longer by thegravity, your watch would run slower and slower, you would start to getred.  As you enter to the black hole you can see several universes.  Onethought flashes through your head, "If I live through this I'll probablyend up in one of these universes."

QuickTime4.9MB White Holes are the exact opposite of black holes. They spit out matter violently.  One thought is that they might be at theother end of a black hole.  No one knows if white holes actually exist, but if they do they could be gateways to other universes.

No one knows if we will everbe able to understand black holes.  But as long as we still want to know,as long as we still try,  maybe someday it will even be possible to travelthrough them by using anti-gravity!
