Heroin

Heroin was first used in as a cough suppressant and a non-addictive substitute for morphine in 1898. Then an addictive potential was reconized and was prohibited in the U.S. Heroin produces a "rush" or "high" immediately after it is taken.  It also increases energy. Heroin is usually taken into the bloodstream by a  needle.  In the 70's heroin needles were often shared, causing HIV or AIDS.
