Tiger Facts Galore

Tigers love water. They love water because they can cool off, drink water, and get lots of food. They also wait for prey near a water hole.

A tiger never hunts in an open place. What it does is it sneaks up on its prey in tall grasses. Its stripes camouflage it in the tall, dry grass.

Baby tigers are born blind and toothless. Baby tigers are called cubs. At 11 months they start going with their mom on hunts. When they are 2 years old they go off on their own.

Tigers live and hunt alone. Every grownup tiger has a large territory. About 200 sq. mi. Tigers fight each other when a strange tiger shows suddenly up or if a tiger steels food from another tiger.

A tiger family has a mom and cubs. The father does not stay after it has mated with the female. After the cubs have grownup and gone away the mom looks for another male tiger to mate with.

Tigers once lived all over Asia but now there are not many left. Tigers only now live in India and Southeast Asia.
