A cat is pregnant for nine weeks. A cat will want a quiet place to have her kittens. A litter will usually be three or four kittens. When they're born their ears are very small, and their eyes are shut for a week or less. They drink milk from their mom like babies do. They curl up and sleep by their mom. If the kittens or mom get disturbed the mom will carry them in her mouth to a quieter place. Moms carry them by the scruff of the neck.

Newborn kittens can't see or hear, but they can feel with their whiskers. When a kitten is six months old it can survive without its mom. Kittens sleep more than adult cats. The games that kittens play help them to practice their hunting skills.

 

A kitten will usually open its eyes ten days after birth. The kittens will try to get to their feet. When kittens are born they're soft and cute.You have to treat it like a newborn baby. At six to eight weeks the kitten can eat solid food, and drink from a bowl.
