Ace
To become an ace you had to shoot down five planes in World War I. As better planes were manufactured you had to shoot down ten planes. An Ace was a pilot who had shot down many planes and had recieved many awards.
A pilot during World War I was around twenty years of age. Aces were often involved in dogfights. A Dogfight was two squadrons fighting each other.
It was very hard to hit planes then because there was no radar. You could not lock on to a target for a definite hit. You had only a machine gun and had to be able to your target.
All countries had flying aces. If you want to know about a World War I ace check out the Red Baron page.
