F- 8 Crusader
The F-8 was designed to be a super-sonic aircraft, but turned out to be very operational at low speeds for carrier landings.
The F-8 was armed with 4 colt 20mm cannons in the nose. Bombs and missiles could be found on racks mounted below the wing or on the wing. It could carry rockets on the racks too. A variety of bombs, missiles, and rockets could be found on the Crusader.
The F-8 was powered by a Pratt & Whitney J57 engine. It delivers all the thrust needed and maybe a speck more.
The F-8 was an easy to fly plane and very maneuverable. It had a big life on the carrier and in NASA. Its first flight was in 1952.
