| Once upon a time all iguanas were green. They
had no stripes around their tails like they do now. They roamed the
earth. They were very pretty and they all looked alike.
One iguana had always wanted to be different from all the others because he was tired of getting mixed up with the others. The iguana's name was Alex. He wanted to be so different that he said "I am going to kill myself if I do not make myself look different." First he tried cutting off his tail, but it grew right back. He tried painting himself all blue, but he rain came and washed the blue paint off. He tried painting one of his eyes red, but he started to cry and the tears washed off the paint. He tried many other things but none of them worked. When he was fed up he went to the wisest iguana in the world. His name was Urdely Smith, Jr. who told him to try burning off his skin but Ales was to scared to do it. So Alex asked. "Is there any other way?" Then Urdley said, "There is a chemical on the other side of the island. But I do not know what it is for. Maybe that would make you different. But it will take you a whole day to get there so you better set off right now. So Alex did. When he reached the other end of the island, he found the chemical and jumped right into it. He came out with itchy skin. By the next day the itchiness was gone and stripes were around his tail. He now looked very different and he did not have to kill himself. When the other iguanas saw him, they asked where the chemical was. They went to it and jumped into it and came out with stripes also. But they all had different numbers of stripes around their tail. The reason for this is to show how old an iguana is. The moral of the story is when you do interesting things, other people will follow. If you stick to the thing you want to do, you can do it. |
